According to your experience as an external consultant, what are the benefits derived from the implementation of energy efficiency measures ?

The first result (perhaps the most unexpected for the company) is undoubtedly the improvement of the knowledge of industrial processes, from the point of energy on the part of ownership and / or management.
When owners and managers have decades of experience, they have an excellent knowledge of the characteristics of its product but partial, if not wrong, of its energy flows.
EGE's task is to support the company in the realization of an energy audit that identifies the processes on which is necessary to act directly. The experience gained in various industrial/business processes allows the espert to have a more trained eye and to identify the areas on which priority is energy-intensive intervention.

Often, EGE has difficulties to act on the decision makers: how to raise awareness to rational use of energy policies ?

The best results are obtained when the collaboration between EGE and decision makers is supported by the professional confidence, cultivated, during the time, by the work of the expert.
Infact, the EGE wins this confidence with a preliminary activity aimed at  the creation of a culture of energy within the company to approve energy efficiency solutions, not so easy to assimilate, sometimes.
Making energy efficiency means rationalizing parts of the business process (rather than supplies of the main energy carriers) and improve technologies that consume less.
The investments required to the rationalization activities are minor compared to those due to the interventions of implementations but you must, in any case, be able to calculate in advance with precision the returns of the intervents.
So, it is important for the EGE to highlight and communicate to the senior managers variables which could unfluence on the final result and factors which might put a risk the intervention in question.

Is the regulatory framework in the field of energy efficiency clear or there are critical issues which need to intervene?

Unfortunately, in the regulatory, critical points are numerous: from procedures from the construction of generating facilities to the provision that regulate the exercise.
Very often there is, in the operation  phase, to interact with local officials who had to deal with issues not clearly regulated, interpret laws in a more restrictive manner, often in stark contrast with the address of the rule.

How much important is training?

The certification as EGE I achieved in the year 2010, represents the "istitutional" recognition of a set of skills accumulated over twenty years and have been recognized by the market.
The professional training is fundamental and must be continued but it is necessary also the humility and the pleasure to deepen every day news aspects. The relationships between EGE in AssoEGE are an added value for the association: it is the condivision of experiences which allow to deepen details reserved to insiders.
