A photovoltaic system converts the solar energy into electrical energy.
A photovoltaic system consists essentially of:
- Photovoltaic panels, or modules in semiconductor material (crystalline silicon);
- Inverters, which convert the energy into alternating;
- Support structures fixed or adjustable photovoltaic panels;
- Electrical panels, meters, cables and clamps, transformer isolation (for systems above 30 kWp).
The unit of measurement of the power of a photovoltaic system is the kilowatts of peak (kWp), while the amount of electricity produced by the plant was measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh).
